Properly tensioning a do-it-yourself cable railing is the most important part of installing your own cable system. Use the VistaView Stainless Steel Hand-Crimp Threaded Terminal and Stemball Swage Combination Pack to be sure your railing is functional, as well as safe and secure.
One combination pack is good for one strand of cable, including one starter end and one tension end (cable sold separately in the VistaView storefront). Stainless steel washers are included for each end as well as hex nuts and cap nuts for the terminal.
Begin by cutting your cable to your railing length. Use a crimper tool to crimp on the stemball swage end, which will hold the cable in place on one end. Thread the bare end of the cable through the intermediate posts. Hand-crimp on the threaded terminal end and slide through the end post. Attach on the outside of the post with the hex nut, turning to properly tension the cable. Cut off excess threads and use the cap nut to lock the hex nut in place.
These fittings require a special hand-crimper tool. Make sure to use the VistaView CableTec Hand Crimper Tool for 1/8” fittings or a comparable marine style crimper tool. Standard crimper tools typically will not put a sufficient crimp on these steel fittings, which could result in cable loosening and slipping out.
